The next two months will be very busy in our classroom. As you know, in March the entire Center is doing a multicultural theme. In our room the week of March 1st, we will be talking about Italy, and the last week of March we are working on Egypt. We will be posting information each week on the country that we are talking about. We will post them outside our room and all around the classroom, so make sure you take a look. If you have any information on any of these countries please let us know. Any ideas would always help. If you would like to come in and do an activity with the class about one of the countries, we would love to have you, and your child would especially be thrilled. You are welcome to come in and do an activity with the class even if it’s not one of the countries we are working on. We still would love to have you come in.
One of our favorite and most exciting activities of the year is coming up. In the middle of April, we will be getting 12 chick eggs. Embryology is a great hands on classroom science project. We will talk about the process and how to care for the eggs and baby chicks. We will number each egg and the children will then name each egg. Also, while they are still eggs, we will discuss how important it is to turn the eggs each day and why it’s very important for the incubator to stay at the right temperature. Once they hatch, they will be able to care for and hold the chicks before they go to the farm. We will also talk about a lot more important things when we have the eggs in the incubator. Also, if you know a family member or friend who raises chickens and would like to take our chicks, please let us know.
Also an upcoming event we want to mention is our graduation. The date has changed to Friday, May 21st at 10:00 here at the Berry Patch. Please mark it on your calendar. Your child would love to see you at the ceremony. The celebration will only take an hour or less. Then you are welcome to come up to the classroom for refreshments and to get their memory books. The children will decorate their graduation shirts, graduation hats and the runner they walk on for the day. At the ceremony, the children will sing songs and walk down a runner to receive their diploma. Everyone is welcome to come, grandpas and grandmas too!
As the weather gets warmer, we will be spending more time outside. Please make sure your child is dressed for the correct weather when they come to school. Also, make sure your child has extra clothes in their bucket that fit and have their name on them. The children have really grown this year so their old clothes may be too small.
