The Berry Patch Professional Child Care Center, LLC is a licensed and accredited child care center serving ages 2 years through 6 years.
History
The Berry Patch Professional Child Care Center, LLC was established by Bob and Pat Berry in January of 1977 when they realized there was a need for a quality child care center in the Affton, Shrewsbury, and Webster Groves areas. The Berry Patch started with 11 children and has grown into four classrooms, staffed with skilled professionals serving 50 families from all over the St. Louis area.
Philosophy
A noted philosopher has said that the most valuable thing in the entire universe is a person. This truth explains the purpose of The Berry Patch, for every child is a distinct person and a valuable asset. Psychologists are unanimous in stressing the importance of early years. They say the first five years of life are the critical phase of child development.
Ideally, a child would be reared in home surroundings, but this is not always possible. The alternative is to provide an extension of the home where in an atmosphere of love and concern the child is assisted to grow and develop into the person he/she is born to be.
At The Berry Patch we take a person-centered approach to all activity. Each child is different from every other the mystery of a child’s individuality. We respect this difference and seek to give each child guidance to aid in development of the individual person. We:

- cultivate awareness of self and potential
- strengthen each child’s own self image
Hours of operation
The Berry Patch is open from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. year-round. We are closed for the following holidays each year.

- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day and the Friday following
- Christmas Day
- Christmas Eve close at 1:00
- New Year’s Eve close at 5:00
Licensing
The Berry Patch Professional Child Care Center, LLC is licensed by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.
Accreditation
We are accredited by Missouri Accreditation of Childhood Care and Education Programs.
The Berry Patch is a member of Child Day Care Association. CDCA’s mission is to provide quality child care, successful early childhood development and work/family balance.
